How to Extract Specific Pages From a PDF

By PageFlow Editorial Team · Editorial Team ·

Sometimes you only need a handful of pages from a much longer document — a single exhibit from a contract, one chapter from a report, or a few relevant pages from a scanned packet. Extract PDF Pages creates a new PDF containing only the pages you choose, leaving your original document exactly as it was.

Extract vs. split vs. delete

These three tools solve related but distinct problems:

  • Extract keeps a subset of pages and discards the rest — you get one new file with just what you asked for.
  • Split divides the entire document into multiple output files.
  • Delete pages removes specific pages and keeps everything else, which is the mirror image of extracting.

If you’re thinking “I want pages 4 through 9 as their own document,” extract is what you want. If you’re thinking “I want everything except pages 4 through 9,” delete is the shorter path.

Steps

  1. Open Extract PDF Pages and upload your document.
  2. Enter the pages or ranges you want — single numbers, ranges, or a mix, like 1-3,6,9-11.
  3. PageFlow validates your selection immediately: out-of-range page numbers or an empty selection produce a clear error before you export anything.
  4. Export. The new file contains exactly the pages you selected, in the order you specified — even if that’s a different order than the original.

A note on page order

Because extraction follows the order you type your page list in, you can use it as a light reordering tool too. Entering 5,1,3 extracts page 5 first, then page 1, then page 3, in that order — useful if you need a specific subset rearranged without going through the full Organize PDF workspace.

What’s preserved

Extracted pages keep their original size, orientation, and visible content. What extraction does not do is edit the content of the pages themselves — for that, see Add Text to PDF or Add Watermark to PDF.
